We welcome you to join our parish family! St. Francis Xavier Parish was established to serve the Portuguese community in the East Providence area of Rhode Island. St. Francis Parish strives to faithfully serve this community of the faithful, whose pastoral care is entrusted to our pastor under the authority of the Bishop of Providence.
As members of the Body of Christ we are each called to live out our vocations faithfully according to the invitation of Christ to follow and serve Him and His Church. As members of the Lord’s Body, we are reminded of the words of St. Paul, “When one part rejoices, all parts share its joy” (1 Cor 12:26). Cognizant of this, we strive to each contribute to our parish family in a variety of ways through our God-given time, talent, and treasure. We do so particularly through the celebration of Holy Mass each and every Sunday, as well as on weekdays, the celebration of the Sacraments, the Proclamation of the Word of God through preaching and catechesis, and service to the members of our community, especially the sick and the poor, through a variety of parish groups and events. Likewise, as members of the Lord’s Body and stewards of his manifold gifts, we are called to make a sacrificial financial offering to help the needs of our parish. We would love to tell you more about our parish family as we invite you to give us a call, send us an e-mail, or stop by for a visit.
One of the most important ways we can begin our time here in the parish is to register. Please visit us to register as parishioners by stopping by the Rectory Offices at 81 N Carpenter St, East Providence RI or see one of the parish priests after Sunday Mass.
